What this does:

Zoom is optimized for speech and trying to be “helpful” (not helpful!) by eliminating all this background noise (ie bass, music, jam tracks!).  [The GALL, zoom, really!]

By telling it that we are doing music here and don’t want the “help”, we can hear the instruments, metronome and jamtracks.

• If you are in a talk-only meeting, you want this to read “Original Sound for Musicians: OFF”
• If you are in our music classes, you want this to read “Original Sound for Musicians: ON”

Zoom will remember the preset from the audio settings between meetings;

A few more tips:

• You join muted by default, so you can play along freely without any setup.
• If you’d like to play in front of the group today – totally optional, very much encouraged – you’ll want these three things already in place:  
  • Zoom’s Original Sound turned on (toggle needs to be set each session) 
  • a freestanding metronome within reach (not your phone or computer)  
  • and – if you. area member – you’re logged into your account at righton.arisbassblog.com
• If you’ve got a fancier setup with an interface – fantastic. But it’s absolutely not required. As long as you can hear yourself and the jam track from your computer in the room, we can hear you, too, when you play for us.
• Don’t obsess over tone – “good enough” is good enough for practice
