If you’re in the U.S., it’s Thanksgiving today – one of the biggest holidays of the year here.
As an Austrian, I didn’t grow up with this tradition. No turkey, no pumpkin pie, no annual food coma. But over time, it found its way into my life. Or maybe it came with my American passport. In any event, I have to say: celebrating gratitude and family? That’s absolutely worth pausing for. (And let’s be honest… the pies are simply incredible.)
In recent time, my own family has grown smaller. I know I’m not alone in that. Sometimes family is far away, fractured, or simply, gone. That’s when we lean into the family we create. And you – as you are reading this, and especially if you are a member I get to see online – are very much part of the circle I cherish deeply!
So whether you’re spending the day surrounded by loved ones or keeping it quiet on your own, I thank you for reading and for practicing along, and I hope you find peace and joy in today. And may your bass bring you grounding, groove, and a whole lot of musical nourishment.
Speaking of which…
In last month’s Practice Live with Ari special event, we explored What a Wonderful World as a solo bass arrangement. I gave it as a challenge – and many students recorded beautiful versions (check out Laurent in our public Community or Fred in our Facebook Group!)
I did the homework myself as well. Enjoy! And Happy Thanksgiving!
If you’d like to learn this, too, you can, join Live Practice with Ari for this, and so much more!.
With gratitude and groove,
Ari
Enjoy!
