Practice tips galore in this iRealPro Tutorial

From how to get started with the program, to downloading songs, to using its practice capabilities to the fullest. iRealPro is a great practice tool!

Did you know you can create loops that change the key so you can shed transposing? Or put a click on 2 and 4? How ‘bout pulling up chord scales from its library?

(Like any app, it has its limitations or can turn into a crutch, but when used wisely it is a wonderful practice aid!)

Of course, nothing beats playing with real people, but this will go a long way towards getting you ready and confident walking, shedding solos and practicing your transposing skills!

  1. Unfortunately not available for PCs, Aris, Mac only!

But it can be used through an Android emulator. 😉

    Thanks for your tutorials.

    Cheers

  2. RealPro is indeed a very nice program. I say that as a bass player, but also as an IT software developer. The interface is very good, even on an iPad. It is easy to use it. And yet I have listened to you again with great pleasure and interest. As always, you not only explain many of the useful options in an understandable way, you also make it very practical to use the program for us bass play

    1. Thank you very much for your comment, Pim! Also great insight from the dev end of things. For sure, as a user, it is very intuitive!

    1. Cheers Dana, BIAB sounds great and has easy editing functions. I am not sure if it has some of the practice functions and to my knowledge, it only runs on desktop.Been a while since I have used it, but I did like it back then 🙂

  3. Thanks for the demo. It opened my eyes to more of iReal Pro’s functions.

Your walking baseline at 11:28 was inspiring.

  4. Great tutorial! Thank you Ari!
One observation regarding the scale and chord diagrams: you can swipe to the left (or simply click on the right picture in the window) and select the scale or inversion you want for a certain chord. Everything you see in the library is available in song view as well.
If you have any questions, let us know 😉
    Enjoy your practice!
