Earlier this year, I launched my Pattern System for the Bass Player book (co-written with Wolf Wein) and the response on the Indiegogo campaign was incredible – and incredibly humbling! We reached our ambitious goal in the first 24 hours!
Then something even more special happened. One of the campaign backers (and student of mine) bought 10 books and asked that they be distributed to those that for whatever reason may not have the resources to buy on their own – but have the drive and desire to improve their bass playing. Others followed suit and soon we had 25 donated books to distribute to deserving candidates. For full story, read the blog post about the book donations.
So we set up a contest to find deserving candidates. Part of the application process was to send in a video of themselves jamming to one of our tracks. We got some amazing responses that warmed our hearts, a few that made us laugh with their playful video entries, and some really great playing, too. One submission came from a bass teacher so we sponsored five books for his school (Escola Superior de Música ) in Spain!! His clip brought a huge smile to our faces – see if you don’t agree!
All the donated books have found their new homes and are helping these recipients to begin mastering their bass fretboards on a whole new level.
See a few pictures of the recipients book in hand – a big thank you to our sponsors and to JJ for the idea that sparked it all!
